Rapist Arrested in Albany After Woman is Found Unconscious

On August 10, 2024, an off-duty officer found an unconscious woman in the 900 block of S. Jefferson St. The woman was taken to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital for her injuries. Once the victim was transported to the hospital, emergency personnel notified Albany Police officers that the victim was sexually assaulted. She is currently in critical condition.

Investigators were able to identify the suspect as 63-year-old Johnnie Will Jones. On August 23th, he was taken into custody and interviewed in reference to the victim’s injuries.

As a result, Jones was charged with Aggravated Assault, Aggravated Battery, Rape and Aggravated Stalking. He is currently in the Dougherty County Jail.
