Albany Police Investigate Memorial Day Fatal Shooting on Lipsey Drive

The Albany Police Department is currently investigating a shooting incident that took place in the 400 block of Lipsey Drive on Monday, May 27th.

Upon arrival, officers located Charles Shavers Jr. (40) with a gunshot wound to the chest. Shavers succumbed to his injury on scene.

During the investigation into this homicide, the Criminal Investigative Bureau was able to identify Damontae D. Johnson (17) as one of the suspects involved. Johnson was apprehended during the execution of a search warrant at his residence. Johnson was charged with Murder, Aggravated Assault, and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime. He was transported to the Dougherty County Jail.

Investigators are also on the look out for Dekardre Adonis Barkley (27) as a person of interest in this homicide. Barkley also has two outstanding warrants for his arrest from a previous case.
