Albany Mail Theft Ring Busted: Suspects Arrested, Over 600 Stolen Checks Recovered

Albany Police and Postal Inspectors collaborated to crack down on a series of mail thefts plaguing the City of Albany since 2023. After a thorough investigation, culprits and stolen items were identified.

On May 1, 2024, a search warrant executed at the residence of 22-year-old Marqavia Oliver led to the arrest of 23-year-old Trammell Harris, a prime suspect in the case.

The search uncovered over 600 stolen checks, debit cards, and other documents. Allegedly, Oliver’s vehicle was used in the thefts. Oliver faces charges of Conspiracy to Commit a Crime and Theft by Possession of Stolen Mail, while Harris faces charges of Forgery 3rd Degree and Theft by Possession of Stolen Mail for each check involved.
