Student Arrested for Possession of Loaded Firearm at Forsyth County Middle School
The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report from Little Mill Middle School administration on Tuesday morning, April 16th, regarding a possible firearm on campus. The middle schools is located in Cumming, GA. A 14-year-old student was identified by a fellow student, prompting action from school authorities and law enforcement.
Upon being removed from class, the student was searched by a School Resource Officer, revealing a loaded 9mm pistol concealed in the student’s waistband. The student has since been apprehended and is being transported to the Regional Youth Detention Center.
Thankfully, no injuries were reported, and the school is confirmed to be secure. The investigation is ongoing, with the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office collaborating closely with the Forsyth County School System.
Sheriff Ron Freeman emphasized the importance of vigilance, stating, “This is a sobering example of why it is so important to emphasize ‘see something, say something’ to our kids and students as it takes all of us to keep our kids and schools safe.” He highlighted the extensive presence of Deputy Sheriff School Resource Officers in the county’s school system, reiterating their commitment to ensuring safety in educational environments.
