Atlanta Police Investigate Death of 6-Year-Old, Suspect in Custody

Atlanta Police are investigating the death of a 6-year-old child. On March 20, 2024, at around 11:17 pm, officers responded to a call at 1203 Lee St. SW (Fire Station 14) regarding an unresponsive child. Medical personnel rushed the child to a local hospital, but despite efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead.

Following the incident, the Atlanta Police Department’s Homicide Unit initiated an investigation. Detectives determined that Dashon Jones, 24 years old, was allegedly responsible for the child’s death. Warrants for murder and cruelty to children were issued for Jones. He was already in custody at Fulton County Jail on unrelated charges when the warrants were served.

The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the child’s death is ongoing.
