On December 13, Gwinnett County detectives charged Anthony Lovett, a 20-year-old resident of Lithonia, with three counts of aggravated assault in connection with the Sugarloaf Mills Mall shooting. Lovett is not currently in custody.

Ethan Dumas turned himself in to the Gwinnett County Jail on September 11 in relation to the Sugarloaf Mills Mall shooting. Gwinnett County Police Detectives urge anyone with additional information on the incident to contact them.

Gwinnett County Police detectives have obtained warrants for Ethan Dumas, a 20-year-old resident of Decatur, in connection with the Sugarloaf Mills Mall shooting. Dumas faces charges including three counts of Aggravated Assault, Criminal Damage to Property in the First Degree, Terroristic Threats and Acts, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime, and Reckless Conduct. Dumas, with a height of 5 feet 11 inches and weighing approximately 170 pounds, no longer has dreadlocks. His current whereabouts are unknown. Lawrenceville, Ga. – Gwinnett County Police detectives continue to investigate a shooting at Sugarloaf Mills Mall that occurred on August 5, 2023, at approximately 7:09 p.m. Officers responded swiftly to reports of gunshots, discovering an argument turned physical between two suspects and a mall employee. Shots were fired, but no injuries were reported. The suspects, described as one wearing black attire and the other in white or tan shorts, fled the scene.
The incident, initially believed to be an active shooter situation, caused panic among mall patrons. Detectives emphasize it was an isolated argument and not a broader threat.
Authorities seek assistance in identifying the suspects. Witnesses or anyone with information should contact GCPD detectives at 770-513-5300.
