Paulding County Sheriff’s Office Announces the Passing of Retired Deputy Ronald Phillips
The Paulding County Sheriff’s Office has announced the passing of Deputy Ronald Edward Phillips (Retired) on July 21, 2024. Born on November 19, 1949, in Jackson, Mississippi, Phillips was the son of the late Marvin and Mary Phillips.
Phillips served in the United States Air Force, including a tour in Vietnam, before transitioning to a career in law enforcement. He worked for the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office and retired from the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office in 2013 after over twenty years of service, totaling nearly 45 years of service to his country and community.
In addition to his law enforcement career, Phillips was a member of the Shriners and attended First Baptist Church in Dallas, Georgia. He was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves and Florida State Seminoles, and enjoyed Coca-Cola, often seen with a bottle in hand.
Phillips is preceded in death by his parents, Marvin H. Phillips and Mary Nell Phillips; his brothers, Richard H. Phillips and John R. Phillips; and his sister, Joy L. Ghafur. He is survived by his sons, Joseph Randell Phillips and Michael Steven Phillips; two grandchildren; three nieces; one nephew; and his former wife, Susan Phillips.
In accordance with Phillips’s wishes, there will be no services. Clark Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
