Georgia State Patrol Seeks Public’s Help in Fatal St. Simons Island Hit-and-Run Investigation From April 2026

GLYNN COUNTY, Ga. – The Georgia State Patrol’s Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team is asking for the public’s help as investigators continue working to identify the vehicle that first struck a pedestrian who was killed on St. Simons Island earlier this year.

The fatal crash occurred during the early morning hours of April 26, 2026, on Frederica Road near the airport runway on St. Simons Island.

According to investigators, 27-year-old Troy Nathaniel Ingram of Hayden, Alabama, was walking illegally in the roadway in an area without street lighting when he was struck by a vehicle.

Investigators Believe Multiple Vehicles Struck Victim

The preliminary investigation indicates Ingram was likely struck by multiple vehicles before law enforcement arrived at the scene.

Several drivers stopped and told investigators they either struck Ingram after he was already lying in the roadway or were able to avoid hitting him.

However, none of those drivers were able to identify the vehicle that initially struck Ingram.

The Georgia State Patrol said determining which vehicle first hit the pedestrian remains a critical part of the ongoing investigation.

Public Asked to Come Forward

Anyone with information about the crash or the vehicle believed to have first struck Ingram is asked to contact the Georgia State Patrol Troop I Communications Center at (912) 262-2380 and request to speak with a Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team (SCRT) investigator.
