Three Juveniles Arrested After Gunfire Report at Cordele Apartment Complex
CORDELE, Georgia – Three juveniles were arrested early Friday after police responded to reports of gunfire at an apartment complex in Cordele.
According to the Cordele Police Department, officers were handling an unrelated call for service at approximately 1 a.m. on May 29 when they heard multiple gunshots coming from the area of the Morningside Apartments.
Officers immediately responded to investigate and, with assistance from Crisp County dispatchers, quickly located the individuals believed to be involved.
Deputies from the Crisp County Sheriff’s Office also responded to assist with the investigation.
Authorities said several individuals were detained during the incident, and three were ultimately arrested.
The three juveniles were each charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Person Under 18 Years of Age.
Police said firearms were recovered during the investigation.
“We are thankful for the quick response of our officers and teamwork displayed by both our agency and the Crisp County Sheriff’s Office,” the department said in a statement.
Officials noted that incidents involving firearms in the hands of young people remain a significant concern and said the department will continue proactive efforts to address violent crime and improve public safety.
The investigation remains ongoing.
