Toccoa Man Arrested After K-9 Drug Search Uncovers Meth, Marijuana, Gun and Ammunition

TOCCOA, Ga. — A traffic stop in Stephens County early Thursday morning led to the arrest of a Toccoa man after deputies discovered suspected drugs, a firearm, and ammunition inside his vehicle, according to the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies conducted the stop at approximately 2:55 a.m. on May 14, 2026, after pulling over a silver Mercury sedan on East Tugaloo Street near Short Street in Toccoa.

The driver was identified as 33-year-old Rosevelt Trimiar of Toccoa.

During the stop, deputies deployed K-9 Ria to conduct a free-air sniff around the vehicle. Authorities said the dog positively alerted to the presence of illegal narcotics, giving deputies probable cause to search the car.

Investigators said the search uncovered suspected methamphetamine, a large quantity of suspected marijuana, numerous plastic baggies commonly used for narcotics packaging, drug-related objects containing residue, a handgun, and multiple rounds of ammunition.

Trimiar was arrested without incident and transported to the Stephens County Detention Center.

He faces charges including Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Substance, Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and Possession of Drug-Related Objects.

Authorities said Trimiar remains jailed on a $56,000 bond.

Rusty Fulbright praised the deputies and K-9 team for their proactive work in disrupting illegal drug activity in the county.
