Northeast Georgia Man on Felony Probation Arrested After Deputies Seize More Than 57 Grams of Meth
TOCCOA, Ga. — A Stephens County man already on felony probation for drug-related offenses has been arrested on trafficking charges after investigators allegedly discovered more than 57 grams of suspected methamphetamine during a traffic stop and subsequent search of a residence.
Earlier this month, the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit received information indicating that 41-year-old David Adam Wilhite of Toccoa was involved in the distribution of methamphetamine in and around Stephens County.
Narcotics investigators launched an investigation and learned Wilhite was currently serving felony probation for multiple offenses, including possession of methamphetamine. Investigators also determined Wilhite was subject to a Fourth Amendment waiver as a condition of his probation.
At approximately 9:20 p.m. on June 17, 2026, deputies with the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office Uniform Patrol Division conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Davis Road after observing multiple traffic violations.
Wilhite was identified as the driver of the vehicle.
During the roadside investigation, deputies searched the vehicle and located approximately 2.6 grams of suspected methamphetamine beneath the driver’s seat, according to the sheriff’s office.
Wilhite was immediately arrested and transported to the Stephens County Detention Center.
As the investigation continued, narcotics investigators conducted a search of a nearby residence linked to Wilhite.
During that search, investigators located a safe containing approximately 55.1 grams of suspected methamphetamine, along with additional evidence that authorities say is consistent with illegal narcotics distribution.
In total, law enforcement recovered approximately 57.7 grams of suspected methamphetamine during the investigation.
Wilhite has been charged with Trafficking Methamphetamine, Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute, and Possession of Methamphetamine.
A Stephens County magistrate judge denied bond, and Wilhite remains in custody.
The Stephens County Sheriff’s Office said it remains committed to combating illegal drug activity throughout the county and encourages residents to report information related to narcotics distribution.
The investigation remains ongoing.
