Macon Man Convicted in Months-Long Stalking Case Against Former Partner
MACON, Ga. — A Bibb County jury has found a man guilty of stalking and aggravated stalking following a months-long pattern of harassment against a former partner.
Prosecutors said Eric Ussery’s actions began after the victim ended their relationship in late February 2022, leading to repeated unwanted encounters, threats and escalating behavior.
According to the Bibb County District Attorney’s Office, the victim reported multiple incidents to law enforcement, including an April 1, 2022 encounter in which Ussery showed up uninvited while she was out with friends and assaulted her twice in one evening.
Authorities said the harassment continued in the following weeks, including an incident where Ussery broke into the victim’s home while she was asleep, prompting her to install security cameras.
When the victim sought a protective order, prosecutors said Ussery later approached her at a restaurant, offered her money and urged her to drop the case.
Court records show Ussery pleaded guilty on August 9, 2022, in Bibb County State Court to stalking, family violence battery and violation of a family violence order involving the same victim. A permanent protective order was issued.
Despite that order, investigators said Ussery continued to follow the victim. A GPS tracking device was discovered on her vehicle on August 2, and a second device was found on September 15, 2022.
District Attorney Anita Howard said the verdict sends a strong message about accountability.
“A protective order is only as powerful as the consequences that follow when it is violated,” Howard said. “This jury made clear that choice has a price.”
Sentencing will be scheduled at a later date. Ussery faces up to 10 years in prison for aggravated stalking and up to 12 months for stalking.
