Douglas Drug Investigation Leads to Arrest, Seizure of Marijuana, Firearms and Cash
DOUGLAS, Ga. — A months-long drug investigation led to the arrest of a Douglas man and the seizure of marijuana, firearms and cash during a search warrant operation Friday morning, according to authorities.
Agents with the Douglas Coffee Drug Unit and the D.I.C.E. Unit executed a search warrant April 17, 2026, at a residence on North Railroad Street following an investigation into suspected illegal drug activity.
Authorities said the investigation intensified earlier that morning when agents conducted a traffic stop involving 24-year-old Gene Price Gorden III. Information developed during that stop led to the search warrant for his home.
At approximately 7 a.m., agents executed the warrant and seized approximately three pounds of marijuana, multiple THC vape products, three firearms, and $2,600 in cash.
Gorden was taken into custody and charged with possession with intent to distribute a Schedule I controlled substance and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
Officials said the arrest marks the third significant drug-related enforcement action in the past three weeks involving the Douglas Coffee Drug Unit and the D.I.C.E. Unit.
“It’s been a busy stretch, and our folks are staying on it,” Sheriff Fred Cole said. “If you’re trafficking and distributing illegal drugs in this county, you’re breaking the law, plain and simple. And we’re going to track you down and lock you up.”
Chief Brannen Pruette said the case reflects ongoing efforts to target drug trafficking in the community.
“The seizure of illegal narcotics, firearms, and cash sends a clear message that drug trafficking and the violence often associated with it will not be tolerated in our community,” Pruette said.
