Community Foundation Awards Over $345K in Grants to Central Georgia Nonprofits
MACON, Ga. — The Community Foundation of Central Georgia has awarded more than $345,000 in grants to nonprofit organizations across the region as part of its 2026 Nonprofit Grant Program cycle.
The announcement was made during a celebration event at Fire Station #3 in Macon, where board members, nonprofit leaders, and community partners gathered to recognize the impact of the funded programs.
“These grants reflect the generosity of our donors and their deep commitment to strengthening communities across Central Georgia,” said Kathryn Dennis, president of the Community Foundation of Central Georgia.
Funding Supports Broad Community Needs
The grants will fund a wide range of initiatives across the foundation’s 21-county service area, including emergency assistance for families displaced by house fires, expanded healthcare services for uninsured residents, youth mentorship programs, and home repairs for vulnerable homeowners.
Projects funded this cycle include support for the American Red Cross to provide immediate relief for fire victims, Goodwill Industries of Middle Georgia to launch a medical assistant training program, and Prevent Blindness Georgia to deliver vision care services to more than 1,100 students in Bibb County schools.
Additional funding will support youth programs through Boys & Girls Clubs, expand affordable housing efforts with Macon Area Habitat for Humanity, and enhance access to food, clothing, and housing resources across the region.
Community Leaders Emphasize Impact
“Today’s theme is ‘Standing in the Gap: Community Uplifting Community,’” said Board Chair Steve Kruger. “In those moments when people face unexpected challenges, people in our community step forward and make a difference.”
Community leaders, including Macon-Bibb Fire Chief Shane Edwards and members of the foundation’s grants committee, attended the event to highlight the work of nonprofit partners.
