Jones County Man Sentenced to 60 Years After Pleading Guilty to Child Molestation

JONES COUNTY, Ga. – A 51-year-old Jones County man has been sentenced to 60 years in prison after pleading guilty to multiple child molestation charges stemming from years of sexual abuse.

Brian Ross entered guilty pleas Thursday, Aug. 6, in Jones County Superior Court to three counts of child molestation.

The court sentenced Ross to 60 years, with the first 30 years to be served in the custody of the Georgia Department of Corrections.

According to prosecutors, the investigation began on Sept. 12, 2025, when Lt. Travis Walker of the Jones County Sheriff’s Office responded to Ross’ home after receiving a report that he was in his backyard holding a pistol to his head and threatening to take his own life.

Law enforcement officers negotiated with Ross until he eventually surrendered without incident.

As the investigation progressed, authorities uncovered evidence that Ross had sexually abused the victim over a period of several years before his arrest.

Prosecutors said that during his arrest, Ross described himself as “disgusting” and his actions as “unforgivable.” He also admitted to investigators that everything the victim had disclosed was true.

According to the District Attorney’s Office, Ross gradually groomed the victim over time while escalating the abuse.

Officials commended the victim for her courage in coming forward and thanked Lt. Walker, the Jones County Sheriff’s Office and the Crescent House children’s advocacy center for their work on the case.

Prosecutors said they hope the sentence sends a clear message that those who sexually abuse children will be aggressively prosecuted and held accountable.
