Murder Suspect Captured After Nearly Five Years On The Run In Clayton County Case
CLAYTON COUNTY, Georgia – A man wanted in connection with a 2021 fatal shooting in Clayton County has been taken into custody after nearly four and a half years.
On October 3, 2021, officers with the Clayton County Police Department responded to the area of I-675 North and Anvil Block Road in Ellenwood, Georgia, where they found a young woman suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. She had been shot twice in the legs and once in the chest and was pronounced dead at the scene.
During the investigation, detectives identified Marquavius Hendrix as the suspect and obtained warrants charging him with felony murder, aggravated assault, possession of a weapon during the commission of a crime, and possession of a firearm.
Clayton County Sheriff Levon Allen later activated the agency’s Elite Fugitive Unit and placed Hendrix as number two on the county’s Top 10 Most Wanted list.
On Tuesday, March 17, 2026, authorities carried out a coordinated operation that resulted in Hendrix being taken into custody without incident.
The arrest was led by the U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force, with assistance from the Georgia State Patrol and the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office.
Officials thanked the assisting agencies for their role in locating and apprehending the suspect.
Hendrix is now in custody and expected to face charges related to the 2021 killing.
