Man Dead, Toddler Critically Injured After Shooting in Conyers
CONYERS, Ga. – Rockdale County deputies are investigating a deadly domestic incident that left one man dead and a two-year-old child critically injured Thursday morning.
According to the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched around 11:07 a.m. to a reported person shot call in the 3000 block of Setters Trail. The first deputy arrived within minutes and immediately began assessing the scene.
Deputies located a young child suffering from a visible gunshot injury. Due to the severity of the child’s condition, emergency responders requested air medical transport, and the child was flown to a local hospital. Authorities said the two-year-old remains in critical condition.
During a search of the property, deputies discovered the body of Hasan Boddie in the backyard. Investigators determined Boddie died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The firearm believed to be involved was recovered in the backyard near his body.
Sheriff’s Office investigators are continuing to work the case, focusing on the circumstances surrounding a reported domestic dispute that occurred prior to the shooting. Detectives are interviewing involved parties and working to determine Boddie’s motive.
The investigation remains ongoing, and officials said additional information will be released as it becomes available.
