Teen Charged With Murder After Man Dies From Injuries Linked to Gang Initiation in Albany

ALBANY, Ga. – On Sunday, January 4, 2026, a man with severe head injuries was brought to the Emergency Center at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Despite medical treatment, he later succumbed to his injuries.

The victim was identified as Ricky Bernard Williams, 24, of Sylvester, Georgia. Preliminary findings indicate Williams was injured during a gang initiation that occurred in the 500 block of Pinson Road in Albany.

As a result of the investigation, 17-year-old Ka’Moree Jackson has been charged with felony murder and participation in criminal gang activity. Jackson is currently being held at the Dougherty County Jail.

The investigation remains active, and authorities say they are continuing to work to identify additional suspects. More arrests are expected as the case develops.
