Man Killed in Dexter Shooting, GBI Assisting Investigation

DEXTER, GA – Georgia Bureau of Investigation agents are assisting the Laurens County Sheriff’s Office in the investigation of a fatal shooting that occurred Saturday evening in Dexter.

Deputies were dispatched around 6:50 p.m. on December 27, 2025, to a residence in the 700 block of Shy Street after reports of gunfire. When they arrived, they found 46-year-old Joseph Burch of Dublin unresponsive in the yard, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Burch was pronounced dead at the scene.

At this time, no arrests have been made. The investigation remains ongoing as agents work to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
