Forsyth Man Sentenced to Life After Attempting to Sell Child on Dark-Web Trafficking Site
Kelly Garret Ivey

Monticello, GA – The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office announced this week that 43-year-old Kelly Garret Ivey of Forsyth has pleaded guilty and received a life sentence, with the first 50 years to be served in confinement, after investigators uncovered his attempt to sell a child on a dark-web human trafficking marketplace.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the investigation revealed that Ivey had shared the child’s personal information online and attempted to recruit other child predators to take the victim and physically abuse her. Detectives also found conversations across several social media platforms where Ivey expressed severe sexual interest in minors and actively sought out predators to harm other children he knew.

The case involved close coordination between the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, the FBI, and additional partner agencies. Officials credited that collaboration for ensuring Ivey will never have the opportunity to victimize another child.

“This case is a terrifying reminder that trafficking and online exploitation are real and can happen closer to home than many people realize,” the Sheriff’s Office said in its statement. “Please stay alert. This offender got caught, but there are still others out there hiding.”

The investigation is now closed following Ivey’s conviction and sentencing.
