Clayton County Man Convicted of Felony Murder in 2023 Beating Death
layton County District Attorney Tasha M. Mosley announced that a jury has convicted Gregory Crowe of felony murder and aggravated battery in the death of his uncle, who succumbed to blunt force head injuries in 2023.
Prosecutors said the assault happened on July 14, 2023, inside a shared room at the Efficiency Lodge in Forest Park. Surveillance footage showed Crowe arriving at the room at 4:20 p.m. and then leaving about 40 minutes later to get a neighbor to help move the victim onto a bed. Crowe did not call 911 until 5:55 p.m., despite claiming he found the victim already injured when he arrived.
When Forest Park officers got to the scene around 6 p.m., they found the victim with severe head trauma, swelling and bruising. He died ten days later from blunt force injuries.
Prosecutors argued that Crowe’s timeline and explanation were inconsistent with the evidence presented. After a three-day trial, jurors returned guilty verdicts on November 12, 2025.
Senior Judge Linda Cowen sentenced Crowe to life in prison with the possibility of parole.
District Attorney Mosley said she hopes the conviction brings some comfort to the victim’s family and thanked her team, including Assistant District Attorneys Brianna Jordan and Sheila Francois, for their work on the case.
