DALLAS, Georgia—District Attorney Robert S. Lane has announced that Nortaevous H. Hall, 21, of Douglasville, was found guilty by a Paulding County jury and sentenced to life imprisonment plus 40 years for a brutal sexual assault.
The convictions were secured on October 17, 2025, following a five-day trial. Hall, a known member of the Bloods criminal street gang, was found guilty of:
- Rape
- Aggravated Sexual Battery
- Two counts of Unlawful Street Gang Activity
Details of the Crime and Sentencing
The investigation began on September 4, 2024, when a 17-year-old minor and her guardian reported that Hall had sexually assaulted her. The victim bravely testified during the trial, alongside lead detective Ashley Bekiesz of the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office.
Judge T. David Lyles presided over the sentencing hearing on October 21, 2025. During the hearing, the victim and her mother delivered powerful impact statements detailing the emotional toll and painful recovery the victim continues to endure. Judge Lyles subsequently imposed the sentence of life imprisonment plus 40 years.
Senior Assistant District Attorney Jill Hartsfield, who prosecuted the case alongside Greg Epstein, emphasized the commitment to safety: “Violent criminal street gangs continue to grow and evolve across Georgia. We are committed to ensuring Paulding County is not a place where they thrive or take root. This verdict is a powerful reminder that fear and intimidation will not silence victims seeking justice.”
District Attorney Lane added that the conviction “sends a clear message: criminal street gangs that prey on our community through sexual violence will be held fully accountable. No affiliation, no intimidation, and no excuse will shield offenders from justice.” The case was investigated by the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office.
