Georgia ICAC Task Force Arrests Bremen Man on Child Pornography Charges

BREMEN, Ga.—A Bremen man has been arrested on six counts each of Distributing Obscene Material and Sexual Exploitation of Children following an investigation into online child abuse material.

The investigation began on July 3, 2025, when Haralson County Investigator Nicole Wilson, a member of the Georgia Bureau of Investigations’ Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, received a cyber-tip. The tip contained information about six uploads of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) to the KIK messaging application.

During a several-week-long investigation, Wilson used account information from KIK to identify the owner of the account and the email address as a resident of Bremen.

On August 18, law enforcement served a search warrant at the suspect’s home. Thomas Bruice Smith, 54, was arrested at the scene. Eleven electronic devices were found and processed by the Secret Service, and an electronics K-9 was used to search for hidden devices.

This is an ongoing investigation, and additional charges are possible. The operation involved the Criminal Investigative Division, Crime Suppression Unit, Northwest Georgia Drug Task Force, Secret Service, Murray County Sheriff’s Office, and Bremen Police Department.
