Woman Found Dead in Abandoned Cordele Residence; Police, GBI Investigating

CORDELE, Ga. – The Cordele Police Department Detective Division is investigating a death after a woman was found inside an abandoned residence on the 1000 block of South 8th Street Thursday morning.

Officers responded to the location and discovered the body of 39-year-old Lanatara Jones, a Cordele resident. The cause of death has not yet been determined.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) was called in to assist detectives with processing the scene and collecting evidence.

Police confirmed that Jones’ family has been notified. “The Cordele Police Department extends our deepest condolences to them during this difficult time,” the department stated.

Authorities said the case remains under active investigation, and no further details have been released.
