Man Accused of Robbing Atlanta Bank Using Fake Grenade Threat Arrested

ATLANTA — On July 25, 2025, Atlanta Police Department investigators arrested 39-year-old Lyubomir Petleshkov in connection with a robbery that occurred ten days earlier at a PNC Bank on Monroe Drive NE.

Petleshkov was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Atlanta Public Safety Headquarters for processing. He has been charged with robbery and booked into the Fulton County Jail. Authorities confirmed that no other suspects are involved in the case.

The original incident occurred on July 15, 2025, at approximately 1:50 p.m., when a white male entered the PNC Bank located at 1676 Monroe Drive NE. According to police, the man claimed to be armed with a grenade and demanded $40,000 from bank employees, using a key fob as an alleged detonator. He ultimately fled the scene with $6,000 in cash, escaping on a lime scooter.

The suspect was described at the time as wearing a dark brown bomber jacket with a hat pulled over his face.
