Waynesboro Man Sentenced for Armed Robbery Spree Across Seven Georgia Counties

Cordell Cobb, 24, of Waynesboro, has been sentenced to 318 months (26.5 years) in federal prison for committing ten armed robberies at commercial establishments across Bulloch, Burke, Chatham, Emanuel, Glascock, Jenkins, and Ware Counties between January and June 2023.
Cobb pleaded guilty to ten counts of Interference With Commerce by Robbery and two counts of Brandishing a Firearm During a Crime of Violence. U.S. District Court Judge J. Randal Hall also ordered Cobb to pay $12,081 in restitution and serve five years of supervised release following his prison term. There is no parole in the federal prison system.
According to court documents and testimony, Cobb entered the businesses armed and demanded money from employees. In each instance, victims complied to avoid harm, and Cobb fled with cash.
The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF); Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI); Chatham County Police Department; Glascock, Bulloch, Jenkins, Burke, and Emanuel County Sheriff’s Offices; and Waycross Police Department.
The prosecution was handled by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Bradley R. Thompson and Henry W. Syms, Jr., under the U.S. Department of Justice’s Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) and Operation Take Back America initiatives.
