Two Women Caught with Drone, Drugs, and Contraband Outside Washington State Prison

On June 5, 2025, around 9:00 p.m., Washington County deputies patrolling the Davisboro area were alerted to a suspicious vehicle on the grounds of Washington State Prison. Deputies conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and uncovered evidence of a suspected prison contraband drop.

Further investigation led to the discovery of approximately 3 ounces of methamphetamine, 5 ounces of MDMA, 4 pounds of marijuana, 4 pounds of tobacco, a knife, 11 cell phones with chargers, and a drone with its remote and batteries inside the vehicle.

Deputies arrested 27-year-old Kendra Yates of Duluth, Georgia, and Viviona Smith of Auburn, Georgia. Both women face the following charges:

  • Trafficking Methamphetamine (2 counts)
  • Trafficking MDMA (2 counts)
  • Possession of Methamphetamine (2 counts)
  • Possession of MDMA (2 counts)
  • Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute (2 counts)
  • Possession of Marijuana Over One Ounce (2 counts)
  • Trading with Inmates (8 counts)
  • Items Prohibited for Inmates (8 counts)
  • Unlawful Use of an Unmanned Aircraft (2 counts)
  • Possession of Knife or Firearm During the Commission of a Crime (2 counts)
  • Possession of Tools for the Commission of a Crime (2 counts)

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office continues to work with the Georgia Department of Corrections to prevent contraband from entering prison grounds.

“We take these criminal activities seriously, and we will continue to pursue charges to the fullest extent of the law. So, to those who keep trying we appreciate your consistency—it makes it easier to catch you, ” said Sheriff Joel Cochran.
