Man Found Dead Near 8th Street in Cordele; Investigation Underway

The Cordele Police Department is investigating the death of a man found unresponsive near the corner of 8th Street and 12th Avenue earlier today.

Officers responded to a report of a person lying on the ground and discovered the individual deceased upon arrival. The deceased has been identified as Edward Carter of Cordele. His family has been notified.

While the cause of death has not yet been determined, authorities say there were no immediate signs of foul play. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) was called in to assist with processing the scene.

The Cordele Police Department’s Investigations Division is working to uncover the circumstances leading to Carter’s death. Officials are urging anyone who witnessed anything unusual or has information related to the incident to contact the Investigations Division at 229-276-2928.

The scene has since been released by both the GBI and Cordele Police.
