Two Arrested, Charged in Fatal Monroe Shooting

The Monroe Police Department has announced that two individuals have been arrested and charged in connection with a shooting on May 6, 2025, that resulted in the death of 17-year-old Etienne Boakye of Covington, GA, and critically injured 23-year-old Jazaiah Burgess of Monroe, GA.

Following an intensive investigation, Laddarreus Tiller, 17, and Jatorian Ellis, 18, both from Covington, GA, have been taken into custody. Both individuals have been formally charged with Felony Murder, Armed Robbery, Aggravated Assault, Aggravated Battery, and Possession of a Weapon during the Commission of a Felony.

The Monroe Police Department extended its sincere gratitude to the Walton County Sheriff’s Office, Walton County District Attorney’s Office, Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Newton County Sheriff’s Office, and its dedicated Monroe Police Department detectives for their teamwork, professionalism, and determination throughout the investigation.
