Fraud Suspect Arrested in Albany After Promoting Discounted Gas on Social Media
On October 17, 2024, detectives with the Criminal Investigations Bureau arrested 24-year-old Jarrell Chester after spotting him at gas stations on S Slappey Blvd in Albany, Georgia, following a tip regarding his involvement in a fraudulent gas scheme. Chester had been advertising on Facebook, offering to fill vehicles with fuel for as low as $20 to $30.
Authorities located Chester at the Enmarket (610 S Slappey Blvd) and Whistle (713 S Slappey Blvd) gas pumps, then followed him to the 2200 block of Willingham Dr. He was apprehended near the intersection of Newton Rd and Willingham Dr.
Chester was taken into custody for several active warrants, including Probation Violation, Theft by Possession of Stolen Mail, Forgery 3rd Degree, Possession of Firearm or Knife During the Commission of a Crime, and Aggravated Assault. Additional fraud charges are pending. He is currently held at the Dougherty County Jail.
