Clayton County Man Convicted of Homicide by Vehicle After Deadly I-675 Crash

Clayton County District Attorney Tasha M. Mosley announced the conviction of Arthur Brooks, found guilty on all counts by a Clayton County jury. The charges included Homicide by Vehicle in the First Degree, Fleeing or Attempting to Elude a Police Officer, Reckless Driving, and Driving on the Wrong Side of the Roadway.

During the trial, the State presented evidence showing that Brooks had been sitting in his vehicle in the median of I-675. Clayton County Police Department Officer Clevenger attempted to make contact with Brooks, as captured on the officer’s body-worn camera. The footage showed Brooks refusing to unlock his vehicle and ignoring instructions, instead putting his car in drive and fleeing from the officer. Brooks drove northbound in the southbound lanes of I-675, and moments later, he collided head-on with 27-year-old Torey Bundrage, killing him on impact.

Assistant District Attorneys Cecina Crabtree and Jamal Williams led the prosecution, with key support from Investigator James Windon and Victim Advocate Deja Stokes. The trial began on September 23, 2024, and concluded two days later when the jury returned a guilty verdict on all counts.

Clayton County Superior Court Judge Shana Rooks Malone presided over the trial. Sentencing for Brooks will be determined at a later date.

District Attorney Mosley offered condolences to the victim’s family, stating, “While justice has taken its course, we know that healing from such a tragic event will take time, and our thoughts remain with the victim’s family and loved ones.”
