Walker County Man Sentenced to 300 Years After Raid Uncovers 278,000 Child Abuse Files
Mark Anthony Williams

LAFAYETTE, GA — A 68-year-old Walker County man has been sentenced to 300 years in prison after a three-day trial revealed he collected hundreds of thousands of child sexual abuse files and meticulously logged his multi-year molestation of a child in a digital diary.

Mark Anthony Williams was convicted on June 3, 2026, on all 16 counts of sexual exploitation of children by possessing child sexual abuse material. Superior Court Judge Chris Amt handed down the 300-year prison sentence, which will be followed by 20 years of sex offender probation.

Unrelated Probe Uncovers Multi-County Network

The investigation into Williams began in neighboring Catoosa County. Detectives there were conducting an unrelated investigation into another suspect, Brian Lawson, who was flagged for downloading illicit material.

A forensic search of Lawson’s phone uncovered direct message logs between Lawson and Williams. In the messages, the two men exchanged explicit media of children, discussed desires to abuse minors, and shared photos Williams had covertly taken of young children inside retail stores.

Catoosa County Detective Clay Thompson tracked Williams to a residence in Walker County, where Williams lived adjacent to and worked at a local grocery store. Catoosa County detectives coordinates with local authorities to execute a search warrant at Williams’ home, uncovering an immense digital archive.

Forensic Search Reveals Over 275,000 Files

Law enforcement seized numerous electronics and physical media from the residence. Forensic analysis by detectives and the Department of Homeland Security confirmed the scope of the material:

  • 418 DVDs containing over 12,000 images and videos.
  • 12 USB flash drives containing tens of thousands of files.
  • A desktop computer and multiple hard drives holding more than 266,000 individual pieces of child sexual abuse material.

Digital Diary and Admission of Abuse

On one of the seized flash drives, detectives discovered explicit photographs of a child alongside a digital diary authored by Williams. In the journal entries, Williams documented his ongoing molestation of a young boy, beginning when the victim was just seven years old.

During a post-arrest interview with Det. Thompson, Williams admitted he had been collecting child exploitation material for more than 20 years. He further confessed to photographing children without their knowledge inside the grocery store and other public spaces. Williams admitted the child depicted in his diary and photos was his long-term boyfriend’s son, and confirmed he had abused the boy over a five-year period in another state.

Trial and Sentencing

The state’s case was prosecuted by Senior Assistant District Attorney David Wolfe, with assistance from Victim Witness Advocate Ashley Nicholson.

During the three-day trial, ADA Wolfe presented the jury with a small sample of the media recovered from Williams’ home, which included material involving infants, toddlers, and bestiality. The prosecution also introduced explicit media of Williams abusing his partner’s son, matching the timelines and details logged in the seized digital diary.

The jury deliberated and returned a guilty verdict on all 16 counts, resulting in the immediate 300-year sentence. Williams will be transferred to the Georgia Department of Corrections to serve his term.
