Daycare Worker Charged With Child Cruelty Following Investigation in Nashville, Georgia

NASHVILLE, Ga. — A daycare worker has been charged with multiple counts of child cruelty following an investigation into alleged abuse involving several young children at a Nashville daycare facility, according to the Nashville Police Department.

Police said the investigation began on May 6, 2026, after officers received a report of possible child abuse at Joyful Noise Academy Daycare, located in the 300 block of East Marion Avenue.

During the investigation, officers took four separate reports involving the suspect, identified as Kalasha Johnson, and four juvenile victims.

Authorities said the victims included one 3-year-old child and three 2-year-old children.

According to police, investigators conducted what the department described as an intensive investigation and determined the allegations of child abuse were substantiated.

As a result, warrants were obtained charging Johnson with four counts of Cruelty to Children in the First Degree, with one charge tied to each child involved in the case.

Due to the ages of the children and the nature of the investigation, police said no additional information about the victims will be released.

“The safety and wellbeing of children in our community remains one of our highest priorities,” Chief Ronald Knowles said in a statement. “We take all allegations involving harm to children extremely seriously, and our officers worked diligently to ensure a thorough investigation was conducted.”

Police said the investigation remains active and ongoing. Anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact the Nashville Police Department at (229) 686-6558.
