Villa Rica Man Sentenced to 40 Years for Violent Home Invasion, Assault
CARROLL COUNTY, Ga. — A Villa Rica man has been sentenced to 40 years in prison after a jury found him guilty in a violent home invasion and assault case, prosecutors said.
Todd Ronald Sharp was convicted March 17, 2026, of aggravated battery, burglary in the first degree, criminal damage to property in the second degree and battery.
Judge Dennis Blackmon sentenced Sharp to serve 40 years in the state penal system.
The charges stem from a March 30, 2024, incident in which investigators said Sharp forcibly entered the victim’s home in Villa Rica and repeatedly assaulted her, causing serious injuries and significant property damage.
According to authorities, after the initial attack, Sharp and the victim went to a Super 8 motel in Carrollton. Police made contact with them at the motel, but no arrest was made at that time.
About two hours later, the victim called 911 to report another assault. Investigators said Sharp broke her jaw during that incident.
Officers arrived and found the victim alone in a bathroom. Sharp had fled the scene, police said.
The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Authorities said Sharp later returned to the scene, and police were notified and took him into custody. He later provided a statement, according to investigators.
A Carroll County jury ultimately found Sharp guilty on all charges.
The case was investigated by Carroll County Sheriff’s Office Investigator Dewayne Harmon and prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney D.J. Donaldson and Chief Assistant District Attorney Wade Mason.
Authorities also credited the Carrollton Police Department for its role in the case.
