Man Arrested After Attempted Armed Robbery in Brunswick Targeting Mother Holding Infant
BRUNSWICK, Ga. — A man has been arrested following an attempted armed robbery in a grocery store parking lot involving a mother holding her infant child, according to police.
Officers were dispatched around 1:41 p.m. on April 15, 2026, to the Winn-Dixie at 5420 New Jesup Highway after reports of an attempted armed robbery.
The victim told officers she was standing near her vehicle holding her 11-month-old child when an unknown man approached her, displayed a black knife, and demanded her car keys. She backed away and called out to a nearby bystander for help, prompting the suspect to flee on foot toward a nearby restaurant.

During the investigation, authorities learned the suspect had been dropped off near the Exit 29 area by a coworker. Detectives located the suspect, identified as Bryan Banda, asleep inside a business in the area and took him into custody without incident.
Police said a search during the arrest uncovered a black pocketknife believed to have been used in the attempted robbery.
Banda was transported to the Glynn County Detention Center and faces multiple charges, including criminal attempt to commit armed robbery, aggravated assault, cruelty to children in the third degree, possession of a knife during the commission of a crime, possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance, and possession of less than one ounce of marijuana.
