Three Teens Charged With Murder After 21-Year-Old Killed in Colquitt Convenience Store Shooting

COLQUITT, Ga. – Three teenagers have been charged in connection with a shooting outside a Colquitt convenience store that left a 21-year-old man dead and one of the accused gunmen wounded, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

Koti Amaad Dunn Jr., 19, of Cuthbert; Jakevious Lashawn Nunnally, 18, of Blakely; and Shamerion Allen, 16, of Fort Gaines were arrested following the Aug. 30 shooting that killed Qutavious Ofton of Blakely.

The shooting happened around 10:06 p.m. at the Circle K at 359 S. Fourth St.

Preliminary information indicates five people arrived at the convenience store in two vehicles after arranging to meet in the parking lot, according to the GBI.

Shortly after the two groups arrived, multiple shots were fired.

Ofton was struck by gunfire and made his way inside the Circle K before collapsing. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Dunn, Nunnally and Allen had arrived together in one vehicle and drove away after the shooting, investigators said.

A Georgia State Patrol trooper responding to the area after hearing the gunfire and radio traffic followed their vehicle. After a short pursuit, the vehicle crashed.

Police said Dunn ran from the crash but was later located with a gunshot wound. He was transported by ambulance to a regional hospital for treatment.

Nunnally and Allen were arrested and booked into the Miller County Jail.

Dunn will be booked into the Miller County Jail after he is released from the hospital, according to the GBI.

Dunn and Nunnally are each charged with felony murder, two counts of aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

Allen is charged with murder and two counts of aggravated assault.

The GBI has not disclosed what prompted the meeting between the two groups, what led to the gunfire or which of the defendants investigators believe fired the shots that killed Ofton.
