Three Teens Charged in Camilla Park Shooting
CAMILLA, Ga. — Three teenagers have been charged in connection with a shooting that occurred earlier this month in Camilla, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
Authorities said 17-year-old Cornez Jackson of Albany has been charged with three counts of aggravated assault and one count of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
Two 16-year-olds from Camilla were also arrested. One was charged as a juvenile with aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and possession of a firearm by a minor. The second 16-year-old faces charges of tampering with evidence and possession of a firearm by a minor.
The shooting happened around 6:05 p.m. on April 7, 2026, near Toombs Park on Palmer Street. Investigators said the incident began as a fight between Jackson and a group of minors.
During the altercation, multiple shots were fired, and both Jackson and one of the 16-year-olds were struck. They were transported to a local hospital, treated for their injuries, and later released.
Jackson was arrested on April 9 and booked into the Mitchell County Jail.
