GBI Arrests Decatur 79-year-old Man on Child Sexual Exploitation Charges
A 79-year-old Decatur man has been arrested and charged following an investigation into the online exploitation of children, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
On December 18, 2025, the GBI announced the arrest of James Hill of Decatur, DeKalb County, on charges of Sexual Exploitation of Children. The investigation began in February 2024, when the GBI’s Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes (CEACC) Unit received a CyberTipline report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The report indicated suspected online possession of child sexual abuse material.
Following a months-long investigation into Hill’s online activity, authorities developed enough evidence to make an arrest. The DeKalb County Police Department assisted the GBI with the investigation and Hill’s arrest. He was subsequently booked into the DeKalb County Jail.
The case is part of the ongoing work of the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, which operates within the GBI’s Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes Unit. The ICAC Program, established by the U.S. Department of Justice, focuses on identifying individuals involved in the production, possession, and distribution of child sexual abuse material, as well as those seeking to exploit children online.
The GBI encourages anyone with information related to child exploitation to contact the Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes Unit at 404-270-8870 or submit a report through the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children CyberTipline at Cybertipline.org.
