Dunwoody Teen Critically Injured After Uber Dispute Turns Violent

On October 5, 2025, at approximately 2:30 a.m., Dunwoody Police responded to a shooting at the Waffle House on Chamblee Dunwoody Road.

The investigation revealed that five juvenile females had ordered an Uber to take them home. The driver, 38-year-old Meredith Grundy, stated he could only transport four passengers due to limited seatbelts. An argument ensued over who should cancel the ride. During the dispute, one of the females, 16, allegedly threatened the driver and struck him in the face inside the vehicle.

In response, the driver fired a gun, striking the female. She was transported to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, where she is listed in critical but stable condition.

Grundy was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during a felony. The investigation remains active. Anyone with information is urged to contact Detective Moses at darryl.moses@dunwoodyga.gov.
