Tift County Man Charged After Two Die in Suspected Fentanyl Overdose

Mikel Julies Singleton, 48, of Ty Ty, Georgia, has been arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated involuntary manslaughter following the fentanyl-related deaths of two individuals in Worth County.

On Saturday, April 26, 2025, the Worth County Sheriff’s Office responded to a suspected overdose call. Morgan Young, 36, of Sumner, and Bailey Barfield, 24, of Vienna, were found deceased at the scene. Both were transported to the GBI Crime Lab for autopsies.

Following the incident, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI), along with the Worth County and Tift County sheriff’s offices, launched an investigation that led to Singleton’s arrest. He is also charged with possession of fentanyl with intent to distribute and use of a communication facility in the commission of a drug felony.

Authorities executed a search warrant at Singleton’s residence, where they recovered suspected cocaine, methamphetamine, and a Schedule 1 cathinone. Additional charges are pending.

Singleton is currently being held at the Tift County Jail.
