Gainesville Teen Charged After High-Speed Crash Kills Passenger

A 19-year-old driver has been charged in connection with a fatal crash that claimed the life of his passenger on April 24, 2025, on Aviation Boulevard.

Jose Ruben Acosta Turcios, of Gainesville, was behind the wheel of a 2010 Infiniti G37 when he lost control while driving at a high rate of speed. The vehicle struck multiple fixed objects and overturned, killing 35-year-old passenger Paquito Turcios Galvez.

Investigators determined that Turcios willfully hindered the investigation by providing false information about the crash.

Turcios is facing multiple charges, including homicide by vehicle, obstruction, reckless driving, racing, failure to maintain lane, too fast for conditions, and driving on the wrong side of the road.
