Two Pedestrians Killed in Athens Crash; Driver Charged

On Friday, April 25, 2025, at approximately 8:32 PM, the Athens-Clarke County Police Department responded to a fatal single-vehicle accident involving two pedestrians near the intersection of Gaines School Road and Lexington Road.
A 58-year-old female and a 31-year-old male, both residents of Athens, GA, were struck by a vehicle. The female pedestrian died at the scene due to her injuries. The male pedestrian was transported to a local hospital for treatment but later succumbed to his injuries.
The driver of the vehicle, a 54-year-old female from Bogart, GA, was reportedly uninjured. Following the initial investigation, the driver was arrested and charged with Vehicular Homicide in the 2nd Degree and two counts of Failure to Yield to a Pedestrian in a Crosswalk.
