Repeat Offender Sentenced to 20 Years for Methamphetamine Trafficking in Catoosa County

Jason Earnest Jones has been sentenced to 20 years in the Department of Corrections after a Catoosa County jury found him guilty on March 20, 2025, of trafficking in methamphetamine and possessing methamphetamine with the intent to distribute it.
Jones, a thrice-convicted felon with two prior convictions for possession with intent to distribute, was apprehended by a multi-jurisdictional task force involving the Catoosa County Sheriff’s Office, the Georgia State Patrol, and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. A search of his pickup truck yielded over three hundred grams of methamphetamine, packaging materials, and digital scales. Further investigation of his cell phone revealed incriminating text messages. During questioning, Jones admitted to transporting large amounts of illegal drugs from the Atlanta area into Northwest Georgia.
Assistant District Attorney Zachary Trippe successfully prosecuted the case. While the State requested a life sentence, the judge ultimately sentenced Jones to twenty years.
District Attorney Clayton M. Fuller emphasized his office’s commitment to seeking severe penalties for drug dealers, stating, “If you’re caught trafficking over 300 grams of methamphetamine – especially with a history as a convicted drug dealer you can bet we’re going to seek the harshest penalty the law allows. We will not let you bring that poison into our community. We will find you, we will prosecute you, and we will make sure you can’t harm our community ever again.”
