Banks County Student Charged After Social Media Threat Targets Hall County High School

A 16-year-old Banks County High School student is facing a charge of making a terroristic threat after being linked to a social media post that threatened Johnson High School (JHS) in Hall County.
Authorities were alerted to the threatening Snapchat post around 3 p.m. on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, via a 911 call. Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) investigators, with assistance from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) and Snapchat, quickly identified the female student as the source of the threat by 5:30 p.m. Investigators determined the threat was not credible.
According to initial findings, the juvenile admitted to posting the threat, which indicated a shooting would occur at JHS. She reportedly created the post as retaliation after a male student at JHS allegedly did not accompany her to prom as planned. The student has been charged as a juvenile.
