Traffic Shift Planned for Eastbound I-16 Over Ocmulgee River Overflow

Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) contractors will shift existing eastbound traffic on Interstate 16 onto a temporary detour bridge over the Ocmulgee River Overflow starting this Saturday, April 26, 2025. The traffic shift will occur at Mile Marker 3 on eastbound I-16.  

GDOT advises motorists traveling eastbound on I-16 to anticipate delays as this traffic shift takes place. Advance warning signs will be in place to notify drivers of the upcoming change.

Drivers are urged to remain alert while traveling through the work zone and to reduce their speed around construction workers and equipment.
