Man Sentenced to Life Plus 20 Years for Brutal New Year’s Eve Home Invasion in Metter

Travis Tremayne Jordan was sentenced in Superior Court on Monday to life in prison plus 20 years probation for a violent home invasion that occurred on Daniel Street on New Year’s Eve, December 31, 2023.

Jordan entered an Alford plea to charges of aggravated sodomy, aggravated assault, and first-degree burglary. An Alford plea signifies that while the defendant maintains their innocence, they acknowledge that the prosecution has enough evidence to likely secure a conviction.

Jordan was apprehended in Statesboro on January 22, 2024, and subsequently transferred to the Candler County Sheriff’s Office. The Metter Police Department identified Jordan as the suspect in the New Year’s Eve home invasion.

The investigation into this crime also led authorities to believe Jordan was involved in the “naked bandit” incidents of April 2023, where a naked man was captured on security cameras prowling on private property, entering unlocked vehicles and homes. These incidents occurred on April 1st and 8th, 2023, in the South College Street and Mattie Drive areas.

However, the sentencing on Monday was solely based on the charges related to the New Year’s Eve home invasion and did not include any charges stemming from the ongoing “naked bandit” investigation.

“We want to congratulate Sergent over Investigations, Kris Storey, and the Middle Judical Circuit District Attorney, Trip Fitzner, on all their work to make sure justice was served for the citizens of Metter,” said the Metter Police Department in a statement.
