Brunswick Woman Convicted of Aggravated Battery for Slicing Face at Child’s Birthday Party

The District Attorney’s Office for the Brunswick Judicial Circuit announced today the conviction of Alexandrea Jones for one count of Aggravated Battery in Glynn County Superior Court. Jones will be sentenced at a hearing in June. Assistant District Attorneys Kelvin Ansong and Bryan Roy prosecuted the case for the State over two days.
The incident occurred on September 24, 2023, at Lanes and Games on New Jesup Highway, where police responded to a reported stabbing. Glynn County Police Officer Russell Dinkins found the victim bleeding from her mouth area. The victim had organized a first birthday party for her child, attended by at least thirty people, including family members of both the victim and the defendant’s family.
Testimony and evidence revealed that a fight broke out between the victim and Jones during the party. During the physical altercation, Jones used a sharp object to slice the victim’s face open, from the right corner of her mouth up into her right cheek area. A nearly month-long investigation by the Glynn County Police Department, involving witness interviews and the review of multiple surveillance videos, identified Jones as the perpetrator.
At trial, the victim testified that she had uninvited Jones and her mother from the party due to their temperament. However, when the child’s father arrived with his sister (Jones) and mother, the victim chose not to cause a scene. Despite this, a physical altercation ensued after Jones arrived.
The State’s lead law enforcement officer, Sergeant Justin Floyd of the Glynn County Police Department, detailed the extensive investigation that led to Jones’s identification. The prosecution also presented photos and video surveillance footage showing Jones engaged with the victim throughout the altercation.
The District Attorney’s Office commended the Glynn County Police Department, Sergeant Justin Floyd, Officer Russell Dinkins, and all involved law enforcement officers for their dedicated work on this case.
