Thomas County Residential Fire Under Investigation, One Dead, One Injured

Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King announced that his office is investigating a residential fire that occurred along Georgia Highway 188 in Thomas County.

The Thomas County Fire Department responded to the fire in the early hours of April 9th and discovered a deceased individual inside the residence, as well as another person who had sustained injuries in the blaze.

“Firefighters were able to locate a victim inside and another individual who was injured in the fire,” said Commissioner King. “Investigators from the State Fire Marshal’s office observed damage to over 95% of the structure. The cause of the fire will be classified as undetermined.”

The State Fire Marshal’s Office is working in conjunction with the Thomas County Sheriff’s Office and the Thomas County Fire Department on this investigation.
