17-Year-Old Arrested in Connection to Cordele Shootings; Guns and Ammo Seized

A 17-year-old male was arrested early Tuesday morning as part of an ongoing investigation into multiple shootings in Cordele, according to police.
The Cordele Police Department, assisted by the Crisp County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team, executed a search warrant shortly after 6 a.m. on April 1, 2025, at a residence in the 400 block of East 24th Avenue. The search followed an investigation into several shootings that occurred in the city since February. While no injuries were reported, approximately 30 shell casings were recovered from various crime scenes.
During the search, officers seized four firearms, multiple magazines—including a high-capacity drum magazine—boxes of ammunition, gun parts, and a bulletproof vest.
The teen suspect was taken into custody and charged with:
- Two counts of aggravated assault
- Possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime
- Discharging a firearm near a roadway
- Possession of tools for the commission of a crime
- Violation of the Georgia Street Gang Act
Authorities stated that one prior arrest had already been made in connection to one of the shootings, leading to the recovery of multiple firearms. Investigators believe the shootings and those involved are linked to criminal street gangs.
The Cordele Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division continues to investigate.
