Murder Suspect in Oglethorpe County Arrested in Denton, Texas

The Oglethorpe County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Arkansas State Police, and Denton Police Department, has arrested a North Carolina man following a multi-state investigation.
Michael Thomas Dusch, 29, of West End Moore County, North Carolina, was taken into custody in Denton, Texas. Dusch faces multiple charges, including Malice Murder, Felony Murder, Aggravated Assault, Aggravated Battery, Exploitation of the Elderly, False Imprisonment, Concealing the Death of Another, Financial Transaction Card Theft, and Identity Fraud. Authorities stated that additional charges may follow as the investigation continues.
Dusch was initially identified as a wanted person in North Carolina for Child Pornography and Identity Theft when Denton Police stopped him in a stolen vehicle. Items discovered during the stop connected Dusch to the murder of David J. Stewart in Oglethorpe County, Georgia.
Dusch is also linked to an ongoing investigation in Arkansas. He is currently awaiting extradition to Georgia to face charges.
